St Ives vs. Oundle
St Ives 2's 5 vs. Oundle 2's 15
St Ives arrived at Oundle with Captain Oliver Scott confirming himself fit at the last minute to lead his team into their last game before the Christmas break. St Ives started strongly dominating the opposition pack, which they done for the whole game. St Ives won their own line out ball on Oundles 22, and drove Oundle right over there try line with Tim Lumley-Good as the try scorer.
It was good to see Chris Shaw and Paul Ashbridge putting on good performances as they returned from uni, they created trouble for the Oundles defence, the game also saw a good performance by Alec Campbell who hit top form and Tommy (Leota) Newman who just keeps getting better at blindside flanker.
3 tries from Oundle spoilt St Ives fun and won the game, but huge credit should go to the St Ives pack who dominated throughout the whole game. An awesome display in the front row by Pete Wood-Eeles, Chris Reay and Lumley-Good, they did not give the Oundle pack an inch to play with. The man of the match award went 2 St Ives Number 8 Andy Dolby, his ball carries were awesome and he was solid in defence, Peter Dreuitt created good options for his back line to work with from scrum half. The final score was 5-15, to Oundle.
St Ives 2nd team Captain Showbiz Scott said "simple mistakes once again lost us the game, but we can take so many positives from this game, we are slowly starting to form good sets of units within the team which well hopefully give us the foundations for plenty of wins in the new year. Every member of my team gave there all today and it was great to see us all stay for a Christmas beer together after the game, Merry Christmas".
