U8s Match report - Rugby St Andrews 24th October

Thanks to all of you that travelled all the way to the home of Rugby........Rugby !

The team played another cracking game winning against Rugby St Andrews by 11 tries to 8. After a first half, where our defensive line tended to drift, and the team were chasing the ball, we settled down and played some great expansive rugby, covering the lines. Support play again this week was amazing, with players sitting off the shoulder of their team mates, ready for that pop pass and the run-in for a try, with Bailey, Alex, Charlie and Jacob being especially effective in this area.

Our running game was again good. Every week I'm amazed at the gaps that Felix finds and Edward as always displayed some fantastic powerful running, even though the slippery ball prevented him scoring more.

A big thumbs up to Lake also who really tried hard keeping on-side, something we will keep focusing on with the team, as this could be the difference between us winning and loosing a game later in the season.

Eion and George as always worked tirelessly all afternoon showing some great stamina always putting in maximum effort.

The player of the week, taking home the new team trophy (try not to break it!), went to Jacob who this week was a try machine. Heaven help the opposition once those fingers are fixed!

A shame we didn't get to do the guard of honour and see the St Ives first team out, but the guys seemed to be picking up a few tips watching from the sidelines.
