From the very beginning it was clear that we had a tough game ahead, but it was great to see our boys working well together. We had some great teamwork, and (most of the time) some great communication. Our passing was accurate, our tackling was on form, and the boys who stepped up to scrum had good success too. Where we often lost possession was in the rucks – Shelford were there in the blink of an eye and were over the ball often before we had the chance to form our ruck. Our rucking is good, but there’s was just a step up – but we can work on that. On occasion our support players weren’t getting there quickly enough so we can work on speed drills and support drills. All great stuff to be focusing on at this stage in the season!

We had some great linked up play resulting in a brilliant try, and almost a second try but unfortunately we were just in touch before the try line.

Just a few weeks ago we didn’t have enough players to field a team and now we’ve got a strong group of players who are working well together! A huge well done to the new lads for becoming an integral part of the team in such a short time, and today showed that we have a group of players who remain determined and focused right up until the last second, no matter the outcome!
