Brackley RUFC edged out in a pulsating contest

St Ives made a bright start and opened the scoring after eight minutes when Paul Ashbridge crossed for the game’s first try. Dan Hawkins added the conversion and then slotted a penalty shortly afterwards to give the visitors early control.
Brackley responded strongly, scoring two quick converted tries to turn the game around. St Ives hit back just before the half-hour mark when Josh Dear powered over from close range, with Hawkins again adding the extras. Brackley, however, finished the half on top, scoring again before the break to take a 21–17 lead into half-time.
The visitors struck immediately after the restart, with Dan De’Ath grabbing his second try of the afternoon to level the scores. Brackley replied with two further tries, one converted, to open up a 33–24 advantage and put themselves in a commanding position.
St Ives refused to fade and clawed their way back into the contest. Pete Fahey finished well to reduce the deficit before Dan De’Ath adding his second, narrowing the hosts' lead to a single point.
Brackley were hampered by two yellow cards in the closing stages, and St Ives made their numerical advantage count late on. With just minutes remaining, Declan O'Neill crossed for the decisive try, sealing a dramatic 37–33 victory.
It was a strong attacking display from both sides, with Brackley scoring five tries. But St Ives’ six-try haul — including standout performances from MoM Owen Pugh, skipper Dan De’Ath and accurate kicking from Dan Hawkins — proved just enough to take the points.
