In a return to traditional values, St. Ives witnessed the first President's versus Chairman's match in many a year. The game saw added spice welcoming players from Saracens, Peterborough, Stags and even retirement to join the fray.
Eschewing the recent overs/unders formula, the match itself was a very even affair. The large crowd of players, their families and guests were royally entertained with end to end rugby.
The result itself was irrelevant as the game supported the Lewis Moody Fundraising Appeal following his unfortunate diagnosis with MND. Just shy of £400 was raised on the day, with private donations still being added.
For the record, at half time the Chairman's XV were ten points to the good, but a spirited comeback by the President's side saw them squeak a win by the odd conversion - both sides having scored eight tries.
Applause to those who managed the entire session, despite the added libations before, during and after the game. Commiserations to those that were reminded that the body is sometimes a little behind the mind!
