The Tiger Bulls Colts travelled to Wisbech to play their Plate Final, knowing it would be a tough game but with confidence and good team spirit. For almost 20 minutes both teams were evenly matched, with no points on the board. Tiger Bulls were keeping more of the possession, but Wisbech, when they did get the ball, looked dangerous. Scrums were untidy but then just after 20 minutes the joint Ely/St Ives Tiger Bulls got the ball away from the back of their scrum and out to the wing for a fantastic try, confidently converted. Wisbech came back strong but Tiger Bulls defended well, then taking possession again at 26 minutes and fantastic bit of team work down the wing, got over the line for their second try. A tough angle but beautifully converted. 0-14 to Tiger Bulls but Wisbech were still looking dangerus on the attack. Tiger Bulls held them off and the half finished with a yellow card against us, but no further scores.

In the second half Wisbech had more of the possession and continued to make inroads into our half. At just ten minutes, and with Tiger Bulls not drifting across in defence, Wisbech had an overlap and ran in a lovely try. Tiger Bulls took their share of possession but couldn't quite manage to make anything of it, and with our scrums and line outs not quite working, we were often on the back foot. Another lapse in our drift defence, another overlap for Wisbech, and an almost identical try for them at 24 minutes. A few on-pitch decisions didn't seem to go our way, and at one point we had two players off with yellow cards. However this doesn't detract from a good second half from Wisbech who ran in a well-worked team try at 31 minutes, taking the lead at 19-14. Tiger Bulls did not give up and worked hard to regain and keep possession. There was some great play from both teams, but Tiger Bulls just couldn't make it across the line. With just 3 minutes left, Wisbech got their fourth try, then with Tiger Bulls defending frantically, they got a fifth with just a minute to go. Tiger Bulls were not for giving up and worked hard to get back in the game, but with less than a minute on the clock, couldn't make anything of their possession. Final score 29-14 to Wisbech.

Very proud of the effort, teamwork and team spirit from all of the Tiger Bulls lads - the scoreline might not have gone their way, but they played with passion and pride, and lived up to the values of rugby!
