A reduced Saffron Walden side made their way to the Chicken Shack to give the St Ives Colts their first fixture of the season. With uncontested scrums and St Ives lending players to enable a competitive match to go ahead, the St Ives lads played their first match with great teamwork and attitude.

Despite some good play from Saffron Walden, the St Ives defence was strong and closed down each attack. On the attack the St Ives lads linked up well, with teamwork and comms shining through. The wind caused trouble at the line outs for both teams, but by the end of the first half, St Ives were up 31-0.

Some fresh legs at half time and a couple more players heading over to Saffron Walden, and the match continued in a similar vein to the first half, with Saffron Walden contuing to make good attacking efforts, but St Ives defending strongly, winning most of the possession, and working well as a team to capitalise on their possession.

Kudos to Saffron Walden for their 'never give up' attitude, but a fantastic team effort from the St Ives lads to finish up 74-0.
